EVIDENCES OF AGRESSION

Nir Oz, Be’eri and Kfar Aza, Israel

December 2023, January 2024

In this ongoing photographic essay, I am immersed in exploring the southern Israeli kibbutzim of Kfar Aza, Nir Oz, and Be'eri - tight-knit communities set against the backdrop of the region's exquisite natural beauty. These are places that bear the indelible scars of October 7, clearly revealing the unimaginable violence and upheaval that was inflicted upon them. Through this series, I strive to capture what remains - every poignant remainder - in vivid detail, confronting the grim reality and profound absence that remain in the aftermath of such abject brutality and cruelty. If peace, beauty and kindness are the values we wish to uphold, it is important to recognize and confront the intolerable, unjustifiable opposite of such values, as shown here. I hope this is an invitation for viewers to grapple with the far-reaching effects of this kind of senseless destruction, and to gain an understanding that these are not just distant, fantastical concepts, but real and premeditated atrocities that threaten to unravel the very fabric of our collective humanity.
